Limiting beliefs are those beliefs that hold us back from accomplishing great things in our life. I’m going to talk to you about 10 limiting beliefs about writing and publishing a book, something that most of us don’t think we can do or that we think is too difficult.
The first limiting belief is: I don’t know what to write about. All of us have expertise in something. All that means is that we know something more about something than someone else does. That’s all it means to be an expert. It doesn’t mean that you’re a master or that you know more than everybody else. It simply means you know your stuff?
Let’s say that you have a tiny, one-person business where you design flower arrangements, something that really doesn’t seem like it would be very conducive to writing a book about—but just wait and see. You clearly have expertise in designing flowers. It’s what you do. You create arrangements for different events. You know which flowers to use and how to position them. You know which vase or container to use. You know how long they’ll last, and so on. There’s probably a pretty long list of what you know about flower arrangements. That knowledge alone is enough to write a book about.
Here’s the deal. Your book will establish you as an expert, someone who has expertise in a certain area. In this case, you have expertise in designing flower arrangements. It will also to generate leads for you. It will bring in business. If you’re a local business, that means people who buy your book locally are going to seek you out. But you can do a lot more than that with it because you can generate money in additional ways. Not only can you generate money from the book, but even if you give the book away, all you have to do is create a small course on how to design flower arrangements, something that you could probably easily do, and it’s not as hard as it sounds.
You could also do online coaching or phone calls or masterminds. There’s any number of things you can do. The best part of that, of course, is that you don’t have to do that alone. There are companies like JETLAUNCH who will help you do that. You’re not on your own, and you don’t have to figure everything out on your own. One of the limiting beliefs that I’ll talk about is the subject of being too much of a techie.
Can you see how this would work for your business, no matter what it is? It doesn’t matter if you are a sole entrepreneur, you have a small business, you’re a speaker, a coach, a consultant, or a freelancer. You have expertise in something that you can write a book about.
Writing and publishing a small book will grow your business. It’ll establish your personal brand, which has become very important today, and it’s going to open doors to opportunities that you don’t even know exist yet.
